Things to See and Do Around Wiltshire

Set in the heart of the Wiltshire countryside, we are well situated for exploring the wealth of natural beauty spots and attractions nearby.

Visitors flock to Lacock village, where many a BBC period drama has been filmed. Wander the delightful cobbled streets before visiting Lacock Abbey, former home of Fox Talbot (founder of pinhole photography) and you can visit the cloisters where Harry Potter was filmed. Just up the road is Castle Combe, famous for its race track and once voted Britain's most picturesque village.

Why not spend a relaxing morning at the Courts, peaceful National Trust Gardens in Holt before enjoying a riverside stroll and lunch in Bradford on Avon?

If archeology is your thing, you’ll be spoilt for choice with the mighty Stonehenge and Avebury stone circles within a short drive.

No trip to Wiltshire is complete without spotting one of our famous White Horses, etched into the hillsides in days gone by or exploring the Kennet & Avon canal. See the flight of 27 locks at Caen Hill or hire a canal boat at Bradford or Devizes.

Hop across the border into Somerset (a mere 11 miles) to take in the Georgian splendour of Bath and visit the famous Roman Baths. Not to mention all those gorgeous shops and cafes!

If adventure is more your thing, Longleat Safari Park and Centreparcs (Day Passes available) are just down the road in Warminster. Even closer is Bowood House, where you can enjoy a great day out for all – visit the House and take in the lake and beautiful grounds and the kids can while away the day in the amazing adventure playground.

For the shopaholics amongst you, venture to Swindon’s Retail outlet where you can truly shop 'til you drop or Bristol’s new Cabot Circus where you can lunch at Harvey Nichols before perusing a host of designer shops!
