We moved to the Conigre from London in January 2007 after many years working in the Food Industry, seeking space and a gentler pace of life with our young son.
Having stayed in all sorts of Hotels over the years, both at home and abroad, we came to the conclusion that good service and a friendly welcome were of paramount importance to the weary traveller (as well as great food and a comfy bed!), whether on business or leisure and we vowed to treat our Guests as we ourselves like to be treated when away from home. We are proud to have achieved a Four Star rating as a ‘Restaurant with Rooms’ from Visit Britain, but the real ‘proof of the pudding’ is what our lovely guests think of us. Here are some comments from the last couple of years:
The evening food was absolutely fantastic. All 3 courses were excellent, the service faultless and the price very reasonable. Also had a small bar/lounge where you could have a drink whilst waiting for your meal to be prepared.

You normally get food of this high standard at large hotels, this one had the smaller scale that made it really personal and the kind of meals you would find in an expensive city restaurant. Delicious tastes, very high quality ingredients and a great menu. Our room was lovely - great interior, had everything we needed and the most beautiful bathroom with freestanding bath. Staff were welcoming and very helpful. Would highly recommend. This is the perfect base for visiting Longleat and a short drive from excellent shopping in Bristol and Bath.

We stayed a couple of years ago and when we were going back to the area we didnt even think of looking anywhere else. The owners / staff are most friendly, the rooms are clean and provide everything you need, and the food is just superb - staying at the Conigre is the perfect ending to a long active day out in the fresh air.

We spent four happy days here while exploring Bath and vicinity. Everyone was smiling and welcoming. Our room has loads of charm whilst still boasting all the ‘mod cons’. The food was sophisticated and delicious, thank you for a lovely stay.

We stayed overnight on a visit to Bath and couldn't fault this hotel at all. Our room in the main house was nicely decorated and the ensuite bathroom was well appointed. We stayed for dinner and the food was of an excellent standard, and reasonably priced too. Breakfast was to a similar high standard. Would highly recommend if you are near or on your way to Bath, Stonehenge, Longleat etc.

We stayed for four nights whilst attending the Badminton Horse Trials. Having lectured in hotel management for the past 29 years I am well aware of the effort that goes into running a successful small family hotel. Sam and Gordon Bisset have set and maintained high standards throughout their operation. Sam is to be congratulated on her exquisitely prepared and beautifully cooked evening meals as is Gordon for his magnificent breakfasts! Our twin bedded room was spacious,comfortable, clean and practical with free internet access, freeview tv and tea & coffee making facilities. Our charming hosts were very attentive to all our needs and nothing was too much trouble. We would recommend the Conigre Rooms and Restaurant to anyone visiting Wiltshire and Gloucestershire wishing for reasonably priced, comfortable accommodation and excellent meals.

An Excellent place to have a small wedding. Food, atmosphere and service were all good. A party of eight of us stayed there rooms very nice. Sam and Gordon were also very helpful with pre wedding plans and very supportive on the day. Well recommended.

We stayed for 1 night at the Conigre Hotel on the way back from a week's holiday in the West Country. It was an excellent end to our holiday, and I can't recommend it highly enough. The owners are friendly and obviously work really hard to give their guests the best service they can. It is great for families. The rooms are lovely and the hotel is great value. The evening meal and the breakfast were both delicious. I would definitely stay here again - and heartily recommend it to others!

Beautiful place. Feels like home. The owners are absolute first class and extremely friendly. The rooms are great and clean. I felt like staying at home. Their food is "REAL" home made with fresh ingredients. Such a cozy place. If you get a chance strike a conversation with the owners. Can't say enough/ Would recommend this place every time.
